A: Yes! The Cub Scout Program is for both Boys and Girls from Age 5 – 11.

Q: What if my daughter is older than 11?

A: At the moment, Troop 85 does not currently have a registered girls troop. However, our Scouting America Boys Troop’s committee is willing to support a girls’ troop if we have 5 members and a female adult leader! If you are looking for a girls troop now, you can search for one here: https://beascout.scouting.org/

Q: What if I don’t live in the East Allegheny School District or East McKeesport?

A: Scouting is for everyone no matter where you are from! We currently have Scouts in our Troop and Pack who are from other areas. We welcome you to come give us a try!

Q: What can I expect from a meeting?

A: For Cub Scouts, we learn new skills from mixed activities from Games, Crafts, and other STEM Activities.

For Boy Scouts, we learn traditional indoor and outdoor Scout Skills. As well as earn Merit Badges that are required for advancement and based on the scouts’ interests.

Q: What if my child participates in other programs?

A: If your child participates in other programs such as sports, church groups, etc. That is okay! Scouts will be here when they’re available! However, we ask that you stay in contact with leaders on your scout’s availability. We also ask that you understand there are requirements that may need to be worked on at home to earn rank advancements. Not completing requirements may result in your scout not obtaining these rank advancements.

Q: Are uniforms provided?

A: Uniforms are required and will need to be purchased. With kids constantly growing there may be a few used uniforms donated from other families, but are not guaranteed.
